The Pandemic that shows the significance of computing technologies in our life that kept us connected during the quarantine time.

This includes data collected from citizens, devices, and assets that is processed and analyzed to monitor and manage traffic and transportation systems, power plants, water supply networks, waste management, law enforcement, information systems, schools, libraries, hospitals, and other community services.

TRANSFORMING CITY TO SMART CITY

ABOUT THE Event

3rd smart city forum

The smart city concept integrates information and communication technology (ICT), and various physical devices connected to the network (the Internet of things or IoT) to optimize the efficiency of city operations and services to enhance the life quality of citizens. Smart city technology allows city officials to interact directly with both community and city infrastructure and to monitor what is happening in the city and how the city is evolving.

In October 2013, H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced a project to transform Dubai into a ‘smart city’. The purpose of the project was primarily to provide seamless services to the public. In March 2014, Sheikh Mohammed launched a strategy to transform Dubai into a ‘smart city’. The strategy features 6 key pillars and 100 initiatives on transport, communications, infrastructure, electricity, economic services, urban planning. Under the strategy, 1000 government services would go smart in the next three years.
